"USA-UA Identification" Exhibition

  • America House Kyiv 6 Mykoly Pymonenka Street Kyiv, 02000 Ukraine (map)

Opening: November 13, 2018, 6:30-9pm

Brendan Hoffman’s work will be included in the “USA-UA Identification” group exhibition.

The group Ukrainian-American project through art explores contemporary life in the USA and Ukraine and reveals common points of both societies, which at first glance, seem entirely different. The main goal of the project is to build a cultural bridge between the two countries through a variety of artistic practices.

A socio-cultural transformation process is now actively taking place in Ukraine. In this situation, it is extremely important for citizens to understand what kind of image their country would like to have and develop. Some of the artwork relates to the self-identification of modern Ukrainians and the community as a whole, as well as how we are cultivating our identity as both a young state and a nation with a centuries-old history.

American artists, photographers, and media artists will present their vision of Ukraine, while Ukrainian participants will demonstrate America as a country that many people dream about, as well as how the US is perceived by those who came there with the purpose to attain the famous "American Dream".
